Prince George's 社区 College Receives $3.700万美元.S. Department of Education Grant to Support Black Student 成功

的 purpose of the federal PBI grants awarded to 皇冠体育 and other eligible predominantly Black institutions are to plan, 开发, 承担, and implement programs to enhance their capacity to serve more low- and middle-income Black American students; expand higher education opportunities for eligible students by encouraging college preparation and student persistence in secondary school and postsecondary education; and strengthen the financial ability of the institution to serve the 学术 needs of their students.
在PGCC, the grant funding will support a new summer institute that will prepare Black students for success with free credit courses, including entrance exam preparation and 生活技能培训. 的 grant will also enable the College to expand its two 指导 programs for Black students. 的 Diverse Male Student Initiatives (DMSI) program helps men focus their energy on self-improvement and prepares them for community involvement and leadership roles. 的 智慧的女人(W.O.W.) program provides opportunities for individuals who self-identify as women, 提高他们的学术水平, 个人, and professional 开发ment in a holistic environment.
